Designtechnica is looking for a talented Writer to join our team at NewFolks! The ideal candidate has a deep interest in content all parents will want to read. You have a knack for writing featured posts, deals content, and short-form posts ranging from products and services to how-tos and advice columns.
The right candidate has experience writing content for a website like NewFolks, time to contribute roughly 10-15 articles per month, and the desire to work with our editorial team on delivering the best content. This is a part-time freelance role, though our aim is to shape it into a consistent, long-term working relationship with increasing the commitment down the line.
We are looking for writers who can settle into one of the following categories, and feel comfortable ‘owning’ that space for our site and are excited about becoming the leading voice in the space:
Stages - This section covers all stages, from pregnancy through to the teen years
Inspiration - Fashion, nursery decor, and advice on playtime or mealtime are content types this section owns
Activities - Playtime, learning, holidays, events, and physical activity are favorite content types for this section
What You'll Do:
Create evergreen content such as how-tos, advice columns, reviews, deals posts, and short-form articles
Produce evergreen content informing our readers on best practices and handy tips
Update existing evergreen content following our refresh cycle for content
Be on the lookout for exciting new opportunities to pitch the editorial team
What We Require:
Deep interest in this space is a necessity.
College degree in journalism or related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
1-2 years of writing experience required.
Knowledge of AP style.
Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to write in a style that is interesting to readers.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
Experience working with web content management systems (WordPress preferred).
Ability to work in project management software like Asana, and work in Office 365 or Google Drive
