International Business Times is seeking an experienced political reporter who can inform and engage readers on Washington and the 2020 election. This job calls for the successful candidate to write a mix of breaking news and enterprise stories that highlight America's unique political climate and how that translates across the country. And the successful candidate will be committed to fairness and accuracy, and will have a strong grounding in journalism ethics.
Write breaking news stories as well as rewrite content from other credible media outlets.
Pitch enterprise ideas on a range of topics, including the goings-on in Washington, the presidential race and key issues that also dovetail with the economy - health-care costs, taxes, immigration and unemployment.
Collaborate with other team members as needed.
Exceptional writing skills -- clean and compelling - and solid knowledge of AP style.
A strong understanding of the need to work smart and fast in a digital newsroom.
The abilities to both multitask - juggle daily and enterprise stories - and shift priorities and/or story focus as the news shifts.
Ability to work well with others in a virtual workspace.
This position is remote. The successful candidate will be offered a contract with the chance to join the staff, depending on job performance.
